Following the founders' footsteps, we trace the development of Singapore-China relations even before formal diplomatic ties were established, with an array of photos, videos and quotes.
Following the founders' footsteps, we trace the development of Singapore-China relations even before formal diplomatic ties were established, with an array of photos, videos and quotes.
This year, on the 30th anniversary of Singapore-China diplomatic relations, this exhibition, titled In the Founders' Footsteps, tells the story of Mr Deng Xiaoping's 1978 visit to Singapore and of Mr Lee Kuan Yew's 33 trips to China.
We have chosen a pictorial retrospective, peppered with information and quotes about what was said or discussed at the time, to bring to life the background and global context behind incidents and events, and to give an in-depth and vivid account of those moments.
Hopefully, this will allow us to recollect and better understand the depth and extent of Singapore-China diplomatic relations beyond the span of 30 years.
